CKY got its start when Deron Miller and Jess Margera got together and formed the band Foreign Objects back in 1994. Two years later, they started oiL with their UPS co-worker Ryan Bruni and began laying tracks that would eventually turn into CKY tracks. Chad Ginsburg joined as a guitarist and that's when CKY began to stabilize as a band.
Popularity for the band's music began to take hold when their music was used by Jess' brother Bam Margera in the CKY videos. Bam Margera has also directed a number of CKY's music videos.
CKY's music has been used in Jackass: The Movie, Viva La Bam, as well as a number of video games including Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, Jackass: The Game, and Backyard Wrestling among others. The bands fans are loyal to say the least. Known as the "Alliance" they became infamous when their (the Alliance's) logo was used on the CKY album "An Answer Can Be Found".
